This seemed like a good idea until I received technicians from companies that caused more problems than help. First my with a/c unit who sprayed oil and Freon all over my newly installed asphalt tile. My repair estimate for that was $559 and I received only $400.00 refund from the company. Next a simple icemaker issue. The company they sent was rated 1 1/2 stars and many negative complaints. They want to send their own plumber to find out why I have water pressure issues and I don't have any. They've made a simple repair a complicated... Read more

We have used First American since purchasing our last home 5 years ago and always paid the premium on an annual rather than monthly basis. We recently sold our home and cancelled our policy which still had 5 months remaining on it. On a prorate basis they should have owed us over $200 but they say that they owe us none of it since we had claims in process. What? These claims were made while we still owned the home had an active contract however they are applying costs that the incurred to make the repairs against the money that they incurred... Read more

I agreed to purchased this warranty in October 2015. Since that time we placed a claim for a leaky dishwasher. Today is April 21, 2016 and they have not replaced or repaired my appliance. What's worse is that I paid the whole year up front. Every week I make the same phone call where I am put on hold for what seems hours at a time without a good response. The representatives on the line report that they cannot keep a customer on the line for more than 2 min. and have to transfer to a supervisory. But when I am transfered I get a voice... Read more

What a horrible company. They sent a technician to fix the stove. He said he had no parts. Left without fixing. It. Then got a letter the claim got rejected and a 65 bucks service fee. We called and asked why a service fee if no work was done. Got the answer: "you get billed regardless". Trying to cancel is a process. Avoid! Add comment

I made a call to report a ballast problem with the fluorescent light. I clearly report 3 times that the problem is with the ballast. The advisor who was helping me states that it is a wiring problem and it is covered. An electrician from MC electric in Dallas came to inspect the problem and refused to do the repair stating it is not covered with my warranty. He charged me 65$ without doing any repair and left after asking for extra 280$ to fix it (The Ballast costs about 20$). It is not the first time I have problem with First American Home... Read more

brief version called multiple times , received 3 different answers to the status of my claim. asked to speak with a supervisor 2 times, the first time I was placed back in the ***. The second time I was placed on hold for 13 minutes and hung up on. going on 3 weeks since filing the claim and still no replacement microwave. I called the renewal department since my policy was up for renewal in a week and threatened to cancel. Their response was " would you like for me to place a note that you do not want to renew" I would have thought that... Read more

I was with American Home Shield for about 15 years, and they did well enough to take care of my needs, not without hiccups of their own. But when their vendor sent out a plumber who was too big to get into the crawl space below my house, and then made me deal with the company about paying the service fee, I decided to make the change to First American. I've made 4 calls on two properties in over a year, and so far they have done a great job. I had a 40-year old oven range in a rental, that the heating element went out on, and when they... I was told that I was not covered...so I purchased a new one for $700.00=/-..needless to say I am not happy...I feel that First American owes me for a water heater. I called today to place a claim and one agent stated that my policy has not been renewed...what is going on...I had to hang up and place another call...I finally place a claim and I stated to the responding agent that 1st American received my payment on the 30th of the month. I have had 1st American Home Warrenty for several years and this will be my last year. They have terrible customer service, the service reps don't give a *** about you or whatever is broke. In your house. They try to weasel out of every single claim I make with them. I know if something in my house breaks, I will be waiting for somewhere between 4-10 days before they bother to get a contractor out to look at it,and it may be more waiting for them to get the part to fix it. I always have to call, talk to a 1st level rep, then I... Read more
