After reading a Yelp review, I filed a complaint with the California Department of Insurance and that helped resolve my issues (you get transferred to the legal department so then they have to be legit). I also contacted my realtor and ask the stop using this company. I think First American's business strategy is to hire shady contractors who don't show up or deny real claims. This way, they... I had a claim denied. When I signed up I told the lady at first american warranty what i needed covered. I called in the claim and was told the booster pump was not covered. I told the claim person that when I signed up I was told that this pump was covered. I told the person to go back and listen to what the salesperson said regarding the pump. The person said that it doesn't matter if she said... Read more

I am just now as I write this going through the process of cancellation. I spoke to this very ignorant female employee this morning, 11/22/14. She told me that it has to be cancelled on the website, and gave me an a link to the cancellation part of the site, which proved to be bogus. I have been a customer of this company for over three years. In the beginning they were OK, then it began to get... Read more

It has been a bad experience with First American Home Warranty. I have had the policy for 4 years and not satisfied enough to renew. My recent service claim for a broken dryer took 3 service calls by Sears and numerous parts, over a 35 day period. Sears failed to show up for 1 of the appointments. The unit was non-repairable, so they offered a replacement of a different manufacturer. To replace... Read more

Their phone system is very bad. You can never get a chance to talk to a real person: after you punch the selected option, they put you on hold forever, there is actually nobody on the other side to answer you. After you wait for an hour on the phone, you feel like being played. They accepted claim, and assigned the contractor, which means they agreed it's covered by warranty, however, once they... our pool pump went out. called FAH, they call the subcontractor. got a call a day later saying it was because of the rain we had in phoenix! when i called the pool company, they did not answer, you could not leave a message and there was no follow up. What a clever way not to help customers. Just say no and then don't answer the phone! We ended up spending 1800 plus for our repair! On other... Read more

I've spent more than 8 hours on phone; days sitting around. Took 4 1/2 weeks to repair minor dryer issue. Now HWH has leak. I've had 3 work orders, 3 appointments, sitting around all day. No once did I receive a call they were running late or needed to reschedule. All NO shows without notice. I've requested calling my own plumbing who would show up same day, but must have their contracted... Read more

Shortly after purchasing a home, the air conditioner compressor went bad. Turns out the previous owners dog used it as a *** post. But hey, we have insurance that covers this. First American sent out a crew to assess the problem and obviously it was the badly deteriorated cooling fins on the compressor. But, these "carefully screened professional contractors" that First American uses padded... Read more
