Called First American when Air Conditioner did not cool. Repair person arrived with in 2 days. 2 men looked at unit in my condo and also on the roof ( as you know Condo's have units on the roof top. I am on the 3rd floor of a 4 story Condo. Within 15 minutes they told me that my condenser was bad and also the electrical panel was bad also. My AC had evaporate coils leaks. With my home warranty, I have to pay extra $1,004.00 + $60 for service fee, while I got a local AC company to fix this and it costed me only $850. So I called to First American Home Buyers Protection explaining situation and requested to have another contractor but they didn't accept. I purchased this warranty in mid April 2016. After receiving the contract by mail and reading it very closely, did I realize that this was a scam and was lied to by the salesperson. They will tell you anything that you want to hear, including that they too are a customer of First American Home Warrant and have saved thousands in repairs. This seemed like a good idea until I received technicians from companies that caused more problems than help. First my with a/c unit who sprayed oil and Freon all over my newly installed asphalt tile. My repair estimate for that was $559 and I received only $400.00 refund from the company. We have used First American since purchasing our last home 5 years ago and always paid the premium on an annual rather than monthly basis. We recently sold our home and cancelled our policy which still had 5 months remaining on it. On a prorate basis they should have owed us over $200 but they say that they owe us none of it since we had claims in process. What? I agreed to purchased this warranty in October 2015. Since that time we placed a claim for a leaky dishwasher. Today is April 21, 2016 and they have not replaced or repaired my appliance. What's worse is that I paid the whole year up front. Every week I make the same phone call where I am put on hold for what seems hours at a time without a good response. What a horrible company. They sent a technician to fix the stove. He said he had no parts. Left without fixing. It. Then got a letter the claim got rejected and a 65 bucks service fee. We called and asked why a service fee if no work was done. Got the answer: "you get billed regardless". Trying to cancel is a process. Avoid! Add comment

I made a call to report a ballast problem with the fluorescent light. I clearly report 3 times that the problem is with the ballast. The advisor who was helping me states that it is a wiring problem and it is covered. An electrician from MC electric in Dallas came to inspect the problem and refused to do the repair stating it is not covered with my warranty. brief version called multiple times , received 3 different answers to the status of my claim. asked to speak with a supervisor 2 times, the first time I was placed back in the ***. The second time I was placed on hold for 13 minutes and hung up on. going on 3 weeks since filing the claim and still no replacement microwave. I was with American Home Shield for about 15 years, and they did well enough to take care of my needs, not without hiccups of their own. But when their vendor sent out a plumber who was too big to get into the crawl space below my house, and then made me deal with the company about paying the service fee, I decided to make the change to First American.
