Tried to place a claim for a broken refrigerator. All of a sudden I am not covered?? Have been paying for the same plan for six years. The agent I spoke to says I started out with a different plan but I downgraded it. That is BS. The reason I have the Home Warranty is so I will be protected when something breaks down. Terrible home warranty company. Why are realtors using them? I just wrote a letter to the CEO of First American Home Buyers Protection Corp., Larry Davidson, about the ongoing poor customer service. I had First American home warrenty out within about 2-3 weeks for a dishwasher that was broken. Out of 11 settings I'm told I can only use one. It doesn't work. After reading a Yelp review, I filed a complaint with the California Department of Insurance and that helped resolve my issues (you get transferred to the legal department so then they have to be legit). I had a claim denied. When I signed up I told the lady at first american warranty what i needed covered. I called in the claim and was told the booster pump was not covered. It has been a bad experience with First American Home Warranty. I have had the policy for 4 years and not satisfied enough to renew. My recent service claim for a broken dryer took 3 service calls by Sears and numerous parts, over a 35 day period. Sears failed to show up for 1 of the appointments. Their phone system is very bad. You can never get a chance to talk to a real person: after you punch the selected option, they put you on hold forever, there is actually nobody on the other side to answer you.
