We bought a house in January 2012 and bought the First American Warranty.On May 12th we called to have a service technician fix the air conditioning..it was not working.

The technician said the unit was not repairable. We would need a new unit. We received a check from them on June 1st. We had to pay for the unit on our credit card because their customer service sucked so bad..it took us two weeks to get a check from them once the unit was installed.

We live in Phoenix where it is hot in May, we couldn't wait for them to get around to send us a check so we could replace the unit. They told us that they would cover the unit, but there would be an additional 1,505.00 of charges to install the unit, like the crane to set it on the roof, new stand to hold the unit, new elbow that would connect the unit to the duct work they would not pay for. They said it was not covered under an AC install. How do you install a AC unit on the roof without a crane.

My suggestion find another home warranty and read the fine print before you buy.When you buy an insurance plan to cover major expenses, and they don't cover standard cost, they are a pathetic company.
