Advanced ReviewerWe puchased a home in OKC one year ago today. The purchase included paying for a one year warranty on the home.
Sunday our hot water tank failed, two days before the one warranty was up. First American Home Warranty was the insurance carrier. They refused to any thing for the failure saying policy had expired.
I explained the failure occurred on Sunday but we had to have it checked to make sure it was just a gas problem or pilot light. It took a day to get it checked and then I called but they said it would only be covered IF I extended the warranty for a another year for $600.00.
Reason of review: Warranty issue.
Monetary Loss: $395.
Preferred solution: Full refund.
First American Home Warranty Cons: Cheated me out 395.

Home Warranties are just a scam used by realtors to help close the deal on a house sale. They donโt actually benefit the new home owner.
The plan served its intended purposeโyou bought the house, thanks to that extra peace of mind, however false, and the seller SOLD his house without having to replace all the old appliances. The Realtors Love Home warranties, because by the time you figure out how worthless it is, theyโve already cashed their commission checks. Realtors, feel free to chime in on thisโwait, never mind. You are a lying salesperson, leeching off other peopleโs misery.
You contribute nothing to help homeowners.
Youโve made the process of buying a house contentious in the best of cases. Not to mention the kickbacks you get paid from the warranty companies.
