Verified ReviewerTerrible service
Its been since June 26th. I have complied with everything they have asked me to comply with (including to pay for my own second opinion, and remediation that they wanted done) with $1000.00 out of my own pocket.
Afterwards they approved repairs then sent another company to repair, but all of a sudden, they provide a report that that makes it liable for me to pay for repairs and not first American. They have done everything they can to deny my claim.
The second contractor, the guy came drunk. They also never returned my calls nor First American's calls. I had to pay out of pocket to get someone to come and provide a proper report. It has been almost 3 months now with no properly working equipment, and First American is doing absolutely nothing about it and not honoring their warranty.
They have gone as far as to tell me that the duct is not covered in my warranty when it clearly states it is. You can't call and get the same answer from 2 reps (ever). This company avoids fixing items at all costs.
It's been since June 26th, and as of today, September 16th, nothing has been done, not even a representative to come see what's going on with the system (besides the drunk and the inexperienced young guy who showed up before). Neither of the people they sent will respond to them nor myself as to what they found.
- Are not on the side of the customer at all
Preferred solution: A reputable company to come fix my issue. One that will be responsive to me and First American and not ignor our request for honest information
User's recommendation: Stay away from First American, not an honest company

Verified ReviewerUse incorrect repair reason, Slab Repair, to limit my coverage
I noticed water run off on my floor (FAHW called SLAB). The contracror they hired openned a drywall and found the leaking pipe ( picture attached). The pipe is in my closet, the lower part of the broken pipe goes down to floor (slab), contractor noted on the picture 'leak originating from this pipe'.
The broker pipe caused the water to run off to floor (slab). The contractor capped the pipe,. No more leak.
FAHW uses the "SLAB REPAIR" as the reason to limit my coverage to $500.
My out of pocket to repair will be $1,635.
The contractor clearly identified the broker pipe which is a plumbing issue, not a slab issue. The fact that they capped the pipe proved it's a typical broken pipe (in this case) one foot above slab in my closet.
User's recommendation: FAHW is tricky. The do not hire good contractor. This is 2nd contractor they sent after I complained the lst one did not detect anything. also the contractor does not answer Saturday. they sent after I complained the irst did not do any thing. Also the contractor they hire does not answer any call on Saturday.

Verified ReviewerVery poor customer service
They lie and fight with you over the phone. They send you to people you can't even understand.
They are very unprofessional. Wilson is so disrespectful and has the worst customer service I've ever experienced in all my years of dealing with various companies.
- Manager reanna was very kind
- Very poor customer service
User's recommendation: Buyer be ware!
Horrible
My heat went out in January. My furnace was to be covered under the plan I had.
I took over a month and 5 tech visits to get the repair completed. Then, I had to pay out over $1600 for the repair for things they say wasnt covered.
They continue to call me to find out why I have not renewed my home warranty. Calling like I owe them money.
User's recommendation: Stay Away!

Verified ReviewerHVAC having same issue for a year NOT FIXED
I called for my HVAC issues last year in April 2023 they sent over several so called qualified hvac technicians. Not one of these companys:
-Anthem mechanical
-Cool air for you
-platinum repair
-Central air
-Plumbers Inc.
-Jaeger electric
Not one of the company gave a same diagnostic?
Year later of suffering with the heat due to ac not working properly and constant denials of my claim I took matters into my own hands went up into the attic I notice the cold air leaking out the refrigerant box all it needed was to be put together properly.. I cant believe this was over look by all the so called qualified technician First American sent out and how long I have to deal with this heat because of the unprofessional companies that didnt care!!!

Verified ReviewerScam of a Company- Denies all claims
I have never encountered a more dishonest and unethical company. Shortly after my policy went into effect, my pool pump stopped working.
The first technician they sent claimed the issue was due to "secondary damage," implying that something we did caused the problem. This was completely baseless, as the pump was installed by a licensed professional, and all the equipment used was fully compatible.
I disputed their decision, and they sent out a second technician. This tech confirmed there was no secondary damage and that the installation was correct. However, the company then changed its stance, denying the claim on the grounds of it being a "pre-existing condition." This is blatantly false.
The pool equipment was functioning perfectly on the day my service contract started.
It's obvious this company operates as a scam, taking people's money while finding any excuse not to honor claims. To add insult to injury, I was charged $100 just to have the technician come out and confirm my claim, despite their refusal to cover the repair.
Avoid this company at all costs.
They are nothing but crooks exploiting their customers under the guise of providing coverage. Save yourself the frustration and find a reputable provider instead.

Verified ReviewerBring awareness to consumers
No this is it will not reach out to another home warranty they rip offs
Luckily, someone reached out to me and came and fixed it for them. I had to pay $260 on top of a $100 deductible up front.
The request was made on 06/25/24, and they scheduled me for 07/02/24seven whole days without AC in a severe heat wave that was over 115 to 120 degrees outside during these days. It was deadly.
- Save for future repairs
- Not living up to contract they advertise
Preferred solution: Full refund
User's recommendation: Don't buy warranty from this company they don't care.
Did not honor ductwork issue
Water is coming out of two vents near the ceiling. First American Home Warranty would not fix the issue.
I have ductwork on the policy.
My daughter had the same issue four years ago, and they honored the said situation. I'm not happy.
- No pros at this point
- Do not honor claims
Preferred solution: Ductwork fixed.
User's recommendation: Think twice about first American home warranty

Verified ReviewerThey haven’t solved the problem of my dishwasher not working
I filed a claim on my dishwasher at my new house. At first, they said it was an existing problem and not under the home warranty, but I had my home inspection to prove it was working before I bought the house.
The first company they sent out said it was hooked up incorrectly and they couldn't fix it. Another company was called and said rodents had chewed on the appliance and it couldn't be fixed. I have no rodents in this house.
Rodents are not covered by the policy. I have no rodents.
- Appliance companies made quick appts
- Conflicting assessments
Preferred solution: Full refund

THEY SUCK!!!! THEY ARE INCOMPETENT EMBICILES WHO WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH THEIR CORPORATE OFFICE NUMBER.
I would definitely need to write a book, My HVAC system broke on Monday, today is Friday. I immediately called to file a claim, THEY immediately withdrew $85.00 from my bank account, immediately.
Same day I fainted I have pictures to prove it due to heat. I called them back they said that they would reimburse me $150 for A/C, so we drove to Lowes which is 30 minutes away, bought a $360 a/c which did not spare us from heat, irritability, short tempers, possible heat stroke and agitated my asthma. The company they are under contract with have not contacted me and actually started hanging up on my on Wednesday. FAHW also hangs up on me.
I asked if I could use an Heating and Plumbing that I found and offered reasonable prices as THEIR contractor could not come out until Wed or Thursday, they denied. I got them anyway, immediately repaired our HVAC for $335.00 and THEY REFUSE TO REIMBURSE ME!!!
I've been looking for a corporate office number and can you believe that no one has one? I find that to be very curious.
User's recommendation: Run!!! DO NOT PAY THEM, WHEN YOU NEED THEM THEY DON'T HELP OUT.

Verified ReviewerService call for my water heater
I called about my water heater thats leaking. You assigned me to Shawn Frye plumbing.
They advised me they cant even come to diagnose the problem until next week. I need someone sooner!
Please.
Frye said they would call you to re-assign me to someone else.
Ive tried to speak to a PERSON about this, and cant reach someone. I think this is very unfair, and problematic!
Please contact me .
Preferred solution: Service , before next week!
Plumbing
I needed two commodes fixed due to them running, two bathroom sinks fixed due to leaking under the sinks, a bathtub leak fixed which caused water stains on the opposite side of the hallway's carpet and 1 of the faucets in the kitchen sink needed to be tightened which caused leaking under that sink. I called June 2, 2022, due to one of the sinks leaking and called 1 week later.
The plumber showed up, and after he left the kitchen sink was still leaking, one of the commodes was still leaking, and one of the commodes were running without it being used. The work was done, but the same problems continued after the work being done and because I did not call within 30 days, I had to pay another $85 for service. After I called, I had to wait another 2 weeks before the plumber came back. I cannot use the kitchen sink and my carpet in my hallway has water stains.
They came back out on July 6th, another $85 paid. Only one bathroom and sink were completed of the 5 things needing to be fixed. I was told that before they fix the front bathroom, I had to pay another $85, I paid on August 1st. The commode is still running and there was water leaking in the hallway, which caused water stains in the carpet.
I called to inform them. Another plumber was sent.
September 9th, a plumber came out and fixed the bathtub leak and replaced one of the two toilets. Due to the water damage to one of the bathroom sinks, a new sink will have to be purchased, carpet will have to be cleaned due to the water stains in the carpet from the bathtub, bathroom sink is still leaking and currently turned off to prevent further leaks, and one bathroom toilet is still running

Verified ReviewerWorthless Home Warranty Company
I submitted a claim and paid for a service call for a refrigerator that I received as part of my home purchase. The seal around the door was not closing against the body of the refrigerator because the door shelves had been stretched from having too much weight in the door shelves.
Condensation was building inside and creating an ice build up inside the fridge. The repair person told me that it needed to be repaired, but I shouldn't expect much from First American. As soon as they got the report they closed the claim as "not covered". Thanks for nothing.
I will not even try to get any help from them again.
I told them that they should just refund the cost of the policy and cancel the remaining time of coverage. I couldn't have been more disappointed in their service.
- Rip off
- No credibility clear issues not addressed
Preferred solution: Refund the cost of my policy and quit defrauding people.

I have been waiting since June of this year to fix my A/C. The latest excuse is that my return ducting is mashed, and needs replaced and that cannot be done without replacing all of the whole ducting system due to asbestos at a cost of $5000.00. This is pure BS if it were replaced it would not fix the A/C problem, there has been THREE other technicians looking at the problem and never suggested this. We have been running this A/C since 1977 without a problem until 2017 when you replaced it with new Unit with an "extra cost" of $920. Everything has been working fine until May of this year, and we ask for service, you sent out Solar A/C and heating, they said that the Heater was on recall and replaced it to the (tune of $2336.00 in "extra parts.) Then you sent out another company and they put in two pounds of Freon (that did not solve the problem)
Then you sent out Dunn-Right and they found a smashed exhaust was told that if I did not replace the smashed exhaust, they would send me $400.00 as compensation. (If you were to send any compensation should be $3256.00 is my out of pocket to solve the problem) Dun-Rite and wants to replace the ducting that has been functioning since 1977. (As far as I know Dunn-Rite smashed the exhaust to get an abatement job) I have an official report from a State Inspector that says that if the asbestos is not disturbed it is not a problem just leave it alone.
What I really want is to FIX my A/C per your contract if you cannot fix it, REPLACE IT. (You do not have to disturb the asbestos to do this)
It only fails in the afternoon heat of the day; it reaches a temp of 79 degrees and stays there running until it gets dark my electric bill has gone from $300.00 to $636.00
Jack Houser 714/671/9417 **** Fawnridge Dr. Brea, California Email: jacks_house@***.net Who do I have to talk to solve the problem? it is the A/C failing (that was functioning since 1977!!!) not the ducting.
